The Majete Integrated Malaria Control Project was a collaboration of academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the government of Malawi, with a central focus on community engagement and participation in interventions to reduce malaria transmission and burden. The project included a cluster‑randomized controlled trial to evaluate the effect of community-based larval source management and house improvement on malaria transmission when added to the standard malaria control strategies in Malawi. The trial interventions were implemented starting in May 2016. The trial catchment area covered about 25,000 people living in 65 villages. Household-level cross-sectional surveys, including parasitological sampling, were conducted on a rolling, 2-monthly schedule to from April 2015 to May 2018.
