New report focuses on malaria outside Africa

More than 2 billion people live in malaria-endemic areas outside Africa. A new report from the World Health Organization — the first of its kind — examines the progress and challenges in tackling malaria outside of Africa. The report, “Defeating malaria in Asia, the Pacific, Americas, Middle East and Europe” is part of the Progress and Impact Series of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership.

News 2 Nov 2012

The report was launched by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Bob Carr, the Executive Director of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, Dr Fatoumata Nafo-Traoré, and the Director of the Global Malaria Programme of the World Health Organization, Dr Robert Newman, at the Malaria 2012 conference in Sydney, Australia.

The full report and a series of fact sheets are available on the Roll Back Malaria website.
