Genomic Epidemiology of Malaria Conference 2024

The 9th Genomic Epidemiology of Malaria (GEM) conference organised by Wellcome Connecting Science will take place from 18th to 20th September 2024 at the Wellcome Genome Campus (UK) and virtually.

News 15 May 2024

The 9th GEM conference provides a forum to discuss the latest research on the genomic epidemiology of the malaria host, vector, and parasite to inform malaria control.

Register now

The conference will bring together researchers from across the globe and will be an opportunity to share and gain feedback on epidemiological findings from genomic epidemiology studies and gain insights on developing malaria control protocols and public health interventions.

Featuring oral presentations from submitted abstracts, poster sessions, poster pitch talks and panel discussions, there will be plenty of opportunities for networking at this highly interactive meeting.

The conference will explore a variety of themes related to malaria:

  • Drug, diagnostic and insecticide resistance
  • Genomic studies of species interactions
  • Vector and parasites: neglected and emerging species
  • global response to biological threats
  • Spatiotemporal genomic epidemiology of parasites and vectors

  • Abstract deadline: 4 June 2024
  • Bursary deadline: 4 June 2024
  • Dominic Kwiatkowski GEM award: 4 June 2024
